Time-Lost Proto-Drake - Reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake

The Time-Lost Proto-Drake (TLPD) is a level 80 rare spawn that can be found in the Storm Peaks. He has a 100% chance to drop the coveted Reins of the Time-Lost Proto-Drake, as well as a level 76 bind on equip necklace and an abandoned adventurer's satchel. He has 18,900 hp and is non-elite. TLPD shares a spawn timer, spawn points, and flight paths with Vyragosa. This means that they can never be up at the same time. Vyragosa is also MUCH much more likely to spawn than the TLPD. In your time camping for the TLPD you can expect to be seeing a lot of her.

Spawn Timer:

The spawn timer on both the TLPD and Vyragosa is somewhere between 6-24+hours, meaning that after either Vyragsa or the TLPD are killed you will not see either of them spawn again for at least six hours MUCH shorter than it used to be when this article was originally written. People have seen it in as little as an hour, and anywhere up to about 7 hours (updated 4/13/17). It is completely random which one of the two will spawn in next. Vyragosa could spawn 10 times before you see a TLPD spawn or she may only spawn a couple of times in between TLPD spawns.

Spawn Points:

Putridus the Ancient

Putridus the Ancient is a level 80 elite rare flesh giant with approximately 75.6k health. He can be found patrolling a very large area between The Broken Front and Corp'rethar in Icecrown. I hiave highlighted his patrol area in red on the map below. He is one of three rare spawns in this zone. The others are Hildana Deathstealer and High Thane Jorfus.

Putridus the Ancient is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements. He drops Giant's Toewrap which are level 76 bind on equip leather bracers with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements. He's also worth a hefty amount of experience for people leveling in the area.

Crazed Indu'le Survivor

Crazed Indu'le Survivor is a level 73 rare tuskarr with 14.9k health. He can be found patrolling in eight different areas in western Dragonblight. NPCScan Overlay can be a little misleading with this particular mob. At first glance it looks as if he patrols the entire length just east of Star's Rest all the way to east of Moonrest Gardens. This is not the case. He has seven different spawn points within that long area, and once spawned in he patrols in a small radius just around that particular spawn point, he will not move between these spawn points. He has one spawn point east of the Westwind refugee Camp as well. If you look at the map below I have highlighted each spawn point/patrol area in red. NPCScan Overlay is still quite helpful here in guiding you in a nice straight path over these points.


Crazed Indu'le Survivor is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements. He drops Seal-Fur Spaulders which are level 72 bind on equip leather shoulders with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements. He also yields a decent amount of experience for leveling characters.

High Thane Jorfus

High Thane Jorfus is a level 80 rare Ymirjar with approximately 18.9k health. He can be found patrolling in three different areas in Icecrown. These locations are the Court of Bones, Sindragosa's Fall and the Fleshworks. (These patrol areas are indicated in blue on the map below.) He is one of three rare spawns in this zone. The others are Hildana Deathstealer and Putridus the Ancient.

High Thane Jorfus is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements. He drops Corroded Faceguard which is a level 76 bind on equip plate helm with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements. He's also worth a hefty amount of experience for people leveling in the area.

Grocklar

Grocklar is a level 74 rare elite giant with approximately 41k health. He can be found patrolling in four different areas in western Grizzly Hills. (I have indicated his patrol areas in green on the map below.) He moves very quickly through his patrol area and is quite large. He is one of four rare spawns in this zone. The others are Arcturis (spirit bear), Seething Hate and Syreian the Bonecarver.

Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements. He's also worth a hefty amount of experience for people leveling in the area.

Scarlet Highlord Daion

Before Engaging in Combat

Scarlet Highlord Daion is a level 73 rare human with 14.9k health. She can be found patrolling in three different areas in Dragonblight. Specifically, those three locations are Scarlet Point, New Hearthglen and the Onslaught Base Camp. She has several different spawn points within each location. I have indicated the areas in green on the map below. She is also one of three rares that can be found in Dragonblight. The other two are Tukemuth and Crazed Indu'le Survivor.

Scarlet Highlord Daion is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements. She drops Highlord's Padded Legguards which are level 72 bind on equip mail pants with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, she also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements. She also yields a decent amount of experience for leveling characters.

She's pretty much a pushover, even for leveling characters that come across her. She does a whirlwind and has a few different special melee abilities, none of which really hurt in any way shape or form. Squishier classes may want to be careful not to pull too many adds with her though, that could turn bad rather quickly.

Hildana Deathstealer

Hildana Deathstealer is a level 80 rare val'kyr with 18.9k health. She can be found patrolling in two different locations in Icecrown. Those two locations are Jotunheim and Ymirheim, and I have indicated the areas in green on the map below. She is also one of three rare spawns in this zone. The others are Putridus the Ancient and High Thane Jorfus.

Like other Northrend rares, she also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements. She also yields a decent amount of experience for leveling characters.

Syreian the Bonecarver

Syreian the Bonecarver is a level 73 rare vrykul with approximately 15k health. She can be found in eastern Grizzly Hills patrolling a very large area south of Drakil'jin Ruins. I have indicated the area where she patrols in red on the map below. She is also one of four rare spawns int he zone. The others are Arcturis (spirit bear), Seething Hate and Grocklar.

Syreian is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements. She drops Syreian's Leggings which are level 72 bind on equip leather pants with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, she also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements. She also yields a decent amount of experience for leveling characters.

Tukemuth

Tukemuth is a level 73 non-hostile rare mammoth with approximately 40k health. He can be found patrolling all over the middle of Dragonblight to the west of Wintergarde Keep and east of Galakrond's Rest. I have indicated the area where he patrols in green on the map below. He is one of three rares located in this zone. The other two are Scarlet Highlord Daion and Crazed Indu'le Survivor.


Tukemuth is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements. He drops Mammoth-Riding Boots which are level 72 bind on equip cloth boots with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements. He also yields a decent amount of experience for leveling characters.

Vigdis the War Maiden

Vigdis the War Maiden is a level 71 rare vrykul with approximately 14k health. She can be found in the eastern part of Howling Fjord just east of Nifflevar and north of the Explorer's League Outpost. I have indicated the area where she can be found in blue on the map below. She is one of three rares located in this zone. The other two are Perobas the Bloodthirster and King Pin.


Vigdis is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements. She drops Soul-Sealed Belt which is a level 70 bind on equip plate belt with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, she also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements. She also yields a decent amount of experience for leveling characters.

King Krush

The King Untamed

King Krush unique-skinned level 75 rare green Devilsaur with approximately 42.5k hp. He can be found in Sholazar basin patrolling in three different locations which are indicated in red on the map below. He is one of three rares located in this zone, all of which are unique tamable hunter pets. The other two rares are Loque'nahak (spirit cat) and Aotona (parrot).

Unfortunately for all of the hunters out there looking to tame him, he is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements so people will be hunting him down intent on killing him. He was the rare that I actually received my Frostbitten achievement on. 

He drops King's Eyesocket which is a level 74 bind on equip ring with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements.

Zul'drak Sentinel

Zul'drak Sentinel is a level 77 rare elite drakkari golem with approximately 45.5k health. He can be found patrolling around the Argent Stand and north of Drak'Tharon Keep in Zul'Drak. (I have indicated his patrol locations in green on the map below.) He is one of four rare spawns in this zone. The  others are Griegen, Terror Spinner and Gondria.

Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements. He's also worth a hefty amount of experience for people leveling in the area.

Fumblub Gearwind

Fumblub Gearwind is a hostile level 71 rare mechanical gnome with approximately 14k health. He can be found flying his flying machine around the Geyser Fields in the Borean Tundra and is one of three rare spawns in the zone. The other two are Old Crystalbark and Icehorn.

He drops Fumblub's Seat Cushion which is a level 70 bind on equip leather chest item with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements.

Old Crystalbark

Old Crystalbark is a hostile level 71-72 rare tree giant with approximately 14 -14.5k health. He can be found in Coldarra wandering around the Nexus in the Borean Tundra and is one of three rares in the zone. The other two are Fumblub Gearwind and Icehorn.

Loque'nahak

Loque'nahak is a beautiful unique-skinned level 76 non-hostile rare Spirit Leopard with approximately 16.5k hp. He can be found in Sholazar basin in seven different locations which are indicated in green on the map below. He is one of three rare spawns located in this zone, all of which are unique tamable hunter pets. The other two rares are King Krush (green Devilsaur) and Aotona (blue & purple parrot). 


Unfortunately for all of the hunters out there looking to tame him, he is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements so people will be hunting him down intent on killing him. He drops Loque'Nahak's Severed Fang which is a level 74 bind on equip neck item with a random enchant. He can also drop Loque'Nahak's Pelt which is a level 74 bind on equip cloak. The cloak can also be skinned from his corpse, so it is possible to see two of these cloaks off of one kill.  Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements.

Arcturis

Arcturis is a level 74 non-hostile rare spectral bear with approximately 15.4k hp. He can be found in Grizzly Hills in only one location which is just north of Amberpine Lodge (it is circled in blue on the map below.) He is also one of four rare spawns in this zone. The others are Grocklar, Seething Hate and Syreian the Bonecarver.


Arcturis is not part of any Northrend achievements. He drops Pristine Glowbear Pelt which is a level 72 bind on equip leather chest piece with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements.

Gondria

Gondria is a level 77 non-hostile rare spawn with approximately 17k hp. She can be found in Zul'Drak in several different locations which are indicated in blue on the map below. There are three other rare spawns in this zone as well and those are Zul'drak Sentinel, Griegen and Terror Spinner (tamable spider).   

This npc is not part of any Northrend achievements. She drops Gondria's Spectral Claw which is a level 77 bind on equip ring item with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, she also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements.

Gondria is a tamable hunter pet. Please note that because she is a hunter pet that even though you may not have seen her before in Zul'Drak it doesn't mean that she isn't already cached by NPCScan. If a hunter has this tamed pet out near you, your NPCScan will cache it. If it is cached in NPCScan and this rare is up your alert will not go off. Be sure to check and clear your cache often!

Seething Hate

Seething Hate is a hostile (obviously, judging by his name) level 73 rare elite with approximately 15k health. He can be found in Grizzly Hills just south of the Blue Sky Logging Grounds in three different locations which are indicated in orange below. He is also one of four rare spawns in the zone. The others are Arcturis (Spirit Bear), Grocklar and Syreian the Bonecarver.

This npc is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements. He drops Ichor-Stained Wraps which are level 72 bind on equip cloth bracers with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements.

Griegen

Griegen is a level 75 rare elite spawn with approximately 16k health. He can be found on the western side of Zul'Drak in several different locations which are indicated in orange below. Griegen is one of four rare spawns  in Zul'Drak. The other three are Zul'Drak Sentinel, Gondria and Terror Spinner.   


This npc is part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements. He drops Ethereal Terror Handwraps which are level 74 bind on equip leather gloves with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements.

Aotona

Aotona is a level 75 rare spawn with approximately 16k health. He is basically a giant version of the Hyacinth Macaw non-combat pat. He can be found in the middle of Sholazar Basin in several different locations in the forest above and around River's Heart. These locations are indicated in blue below. He is one of three rare spawns located in this zone, all of which are unique tamable hunter pets. The other two are King Krush (green Devilsaur) and Loque'nahak (spirit cat).  

This npc is (unfortunately for hunters) part of the Northern Exposure and Frostbitten achievements. He drops Aotona's Collar which is a level 74 bind on equip plate wrist item with a random enchant. Like other Northrend rares, he also drops Abandoned Adventurer's Satchel, which generally contains about 20 gold, a full stack of frostweave cloth, and often times a few crystallized elements.

Aotona is also a tamable hunter pet, (in the Bird of Prey family). Please note that because he is also a hunter pet that even though you may not have seen Aotona in Sholazar Basin before, it doesn't mean that he isn't already cached by NPCScan. If a hunter has this tamed pet out near you, your NPCScan will cache it. If it is cached in NPCScan and this rare is up your alert will not go off. Be sure to check and clear your cache often!
