The Hinterlands Rare Spawns

There are a total of ten rares in The Hinterlands. Two of them are not hostile, and those are Old Cliff Jumper and Ironback. Both of them are tamable by hunters, and Old Cliff Jumper even has his own unique skin. One of the rares in this zone also only appears hostile to Horde toons, and that is Jalinde Summerdrake. She cannot be attacked at all by those playing Alliance.

Most of them stay in the exact spot where they spawn except for Grimungous who patrols along the cliff overlooking the shore, and Retherokk the Berserker who patrols up and down the steps of the Altar of Zul.

There are also not many special abilities that they use worth mentioning. If an Ironman can take them down, anybody can.

Again, as promised a color-coded map of where each rare spawns and patrols. ~

Ironback

Ironback is a level 31 non-aggressive rare grey and purple turtle that can be found in eastern Hinterlands by the shore north of Revantusk Village. He has only one spawn location and he does not patrol away from it; specifically he spawns right near a troll hut and just sort of wanders around between the hut and the ocean. I have marked his spawn location in red on the map below.

He drops the typical green item and a fairly decent amount of experience for leveling characters.

He would also make a nice hunter pet. The only other tamable turtles of this coloration are the level 35-36 Mudrock Spikeshells in Dustwallow Marsh, and the level 6-7 Marsh Snappers in Gilneas which can only be accessed by worgen.

Old Cliff Jumper

Old Cliff Jumper is a level 30 non-aggressive rare wolf that can be found in only one location since the shattering. He is now located just outside of Featherbeard's Hovel south of Aerie Peak in the Hinterlands. He does not patrol any more, he just searches through the hay outside the entrance desperately looking for something to eat. I circled Featherbeard's Hovel in red on the map below.  He drops the typical green item and a decent amount of experience for toons around his level.

He is also desirable as a hunter pet as he has a unique dark grey coloration.
