Karoma is a level 85 hostile rare spawn with approximately 116k health that can be found in several different locations in the Twilight Highlands. The areas he can be found at are located in pink on the map below.
Karoma is strictly a tamable HUNTER PET. If killed all he drops is a Crystalline Tear of Loyalty. Non-hunters please leave him alone so that he can be tamed.
Karoma has the same model as the Ancient Grimtotem Spirit Guide which used to be tamable by hunters several patches ago. These were wolves though, and could be tamed by any hunter. Karoma seems to be a tribute to those wolves.
Unlike the Spirit Guides, Karoma is a spirit beast. He can only be tamed by hunters that have the top-tier talent from the Beast Mastery tree Beast Mastery which allows the taming of exotic pets.
Taming: You NEED to be level 85 to tame Karoma because he is a level 85 mob. He is a non-elite so he doesn't hit very hard at all. In the video below I am taming him on my newly dinged 85 hunter with no traps or special abilities used and he didn't even get me below 80% health.
Karoma's NPCScan ID is 50138. Also, when your flying above his spawn point look for the red dots on your mini-map as he is aggressive.
Karoma is also unaffected by phasing within the zone. It doesn't matter how many quests you have done in the Twilight Highlands, if he's up you will see him. He also seems to have roughly a 6-8 hour spawn timer.
Once tamed, his special ability is Roar of Courage and his exotic ability is Spirit Mend.
Karoma is also one of five rare spawns in the Twilight Highlands. All of them are:
- Julak-Doom <The Eye of Zor> - Group Boss (NOT a pushover)
- Karoma (Spirit Wolf) - For BM Hunters, Only drops a tear
- Overlord Sunderfury - Drops his pants
- Sambas - Tamable Lion, only drops a tear
- Tarvus the Vile - Interesting looking purple dragonkin
